Implantation of microchip All imported pets must be microchipped in accordance with ISO or AVID standards. The microchip number must be readable at every inspection and properly recorded on all documents. If the chip number does not match the documentation, the pet may face the risk of being quarantined or returned to its country of origin. After arriving in Hong Kong, if the dog does not have an AVID chip, it needs to be re-implanted and vaccinated against rabies in order to apply for a dog license. 2. Rabies vaccine Cats and dogs must be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days but no more than 1 year before export, and the pets must be at least 90 days old at the time of vaccination.
